We envision a future where everyone can live a life free of fear and fulfill their full potential.

Mission

The Mission of Agatha Amani House (AAH) is to empower victims of sexual and domestic violence and their children heal from their trauma and help them become self-sufficient. AAH strives to enrich and enhance the quality of life for most vulnerable and marginalized population within Kenyan communities.

The individuals, families and communities we serve today become tomorrow’s advocates, sponsors and mentors creating social change and breaking down the cycle of violence and poverty.
Goals

Shelter
Continual support for the operation and improvement of a safe shelter for women who are victims of sexual, domestic and gender based violence.

Micro Finance
We plan to establish a micro finance program that will be used to make savings aimed at boosting the survivors as they settle down after their graduation.

Support Groups
Facilitate counseling and abuse recovery support groups in the community.

Networking
Network with local businesses and employers to provide employment for the women in the shelter and seek partnership with like-minded individuals and organizations.

Workshop
With an aim to reach out to as many women as possible,  AAH has a vision to set up a workshop within a local estate for provision of skills and counseling services to women going through trauma from abuse and who can be reporting on a day to day basis.

We have established that the need for such a function is highly needed. Our survey report has established that majority of the victims suffer in silence and the existence of such a facility will help them access the therapy they require to start their lives a fresh as they compliment this with empowerment of basic skills aimed at improving their standards of life.

Counseling and Reconciliation Center
AAH has a vision to reach out to the society, women, men and children, and to help them recover from emotional trauma caused by rape, domestic and gender based violence. This owing to the high rise of related cases to both men and women.

We believe in the need for stronger healthier family ties. In an effort to avoid the breaking up of families, we are establishing services that help provide stronger family bonds, conflict minimization and communication. Children of women who are temporary living in the shelter will be afforded transitional assistance through the center. Trained experienced professionals can provide reconciliation services to couples and families. Relationship building will be a big focus for AAH.

Our Leadership

Pursuit of the Mission of Agatha Amani House and oversight of its operations will be the primary responsibility of the Board of Trustees who will ensure that the operations of the house and the security and treatment of the women at the safe house is maintained at the highest possible level of professionalism and decorum. The Board of Trustees will ensure that Agatha Amani House operates in accordance with its charitable mission and in compliance with Kenyan law and that the focus of its existence will be to continuously help women who are victims of domestic violence or sexual violence find refuge and receive training and education to start down a path toward a new life.
Our founder Nyakio with her mother, Agatha.
Currently the house is staffed with a Shelter/Farm Supervisor and a Caretaker. We also have a social worker and The Program Coordinator. Volunteers are a key part of our operation. An important aspect of the operation of Agatha Amani House will be to provide education and training to the women that will allow them to get jobs or start their own small businesses and achieve independence.
