Goals
Workshops
With an aim to reach out to as many women as possible, AAH has a vision to set up a workshop within a local estate for provision of skills and counseling services to women going through trauma from abuse and who can be reporting on a day to day basis. We have established that the need for such a function is highly needed. Our survey report has established that majority of the victims suffer in silence and the existence of such a facility will help them access the therapy they require to start their lives a fresh as they compliment this with empowerment of basic skills aimed at improving their standards of life. |
Counseling and Reconciliation
AAH has a vision to reach out to the society, women, men and children, and to help them recover from emotional trauma caused by rape, domestic and gender based violence. This owing to the high rise of related cases to both men and women. We believe in the need for stronger healthier family ties. In an effort to avoid the breaking up of families, we are establishing services that help provide stronger family bonds, conflict minimization and communication. Children of women who are temporary living in the shelter will be afforded transitional assistance through the center. Trained experienced professionals can provide reconciliation services to couples and families. Relationship building will be a big focus for AAH. |
Our LeadershipPursuit of the Mission of Agatha Amani House and oversight of its operations will be the primary responsibility of the Board of Trustees who will ensure that the operations of the house and the security and treatment of the women at the safe house is maintained at the highest possible level of professionalism and decorum. The Board of Trustees will ensure that Agatha Amani House operates in accordance with its charitable mission and in compliance with Kenyan law and that the focus of its existence will be to continuously help women who are victims of domestic violence or sexual violence find refuge and receive training and education to start down a path toward a new life.

Currently the house is staffed with a Shelter/Farm Supervisor and a Caretaker. We also have a social worker and The Program Coordinator. Volunteers are a key part of our operation. An important aspect of the operation of Agatha Amani House will be to provide education and training to the women that will allow them to get jobs or start their own small businesses and achieve independence.

Kansas2Kenya (K2K)
Kansas2Kenya (K2K) has been our greatest supporter and has been instrumental in providing some financial and other support services to Agatha Amani House. Both the K2K college team and the community team worked many hours during the initial construction faze in the summer of 2013 and have continued to support us. |
Catherine Urwalek - Our representative from Waldshut Tiengen, Germany.
Catherine works as nurse, while also volunteering in hospices, or helping the community by visiting sick people in the hospital who don’t have other visitors. She has two sons who visited AAH with her, Samuel who is 15 and Benjamin is 12. Catherine is a wonderful person and has been a big support to AAH. During her visit, she and her sons helped with the natural building and also our chicken project. We are very appreciative towards Catherine and her family for the ongoing support and friendship with AAH. |
